Aunties

Over the last couple weeks, Brett enjoyed visits with Auntie Robin and Great-Auntie Sandy. Brett hadn't seen Auntie Robin since early February, and it was his first time meeting Great-Auntie Sandy! Fun, fun fun...who will be next to visit?

Lifting up the Chapman Family

For those of you who have not heard the tragic news, Steven Curtis Chapman's youngest daughter, Maria Sue, was killed last night in a car accident. Maria was just 5 years old, and the last of three daughters adopted by Steven and Mary Beth from China. They also have three biological children. Please be praying for the family as they grieve a loss that is unimaginable. If you're moved to send a gift, donations can be made to the family's adoption assistance agency, in memory of Maria Sue, here:

A Solid Effort

Brett started out on solid foods on Sunday, May 4th. He really enjoys munching on the spoon, even though half of it ends up on the bib. He's a good eater, and it doesn't look like that's going to change!
Yumm...what's this stuff?
I can hold my own spoon!
Happy with a full belly and messy face

Happy Mother's Day!!

Both my mommy (Marley) and grandma (Ethel) are far away this Mother's Day - Grandma lives in Minnesota and Mom is traveling through China...so this post is just a little tribute to these two beautiful women who, though far away today, are so near and dear to my heart! I have such a newfound awe and appreciation for both of you, now that I'm a mommy myself.

Mom~ you have such a joyful spirit, and you are absolutely overflowing with compassion and love for others. Even though you only got to be a mommy once, you've adopted so many others as your "children," and I know that I'm not the only one who is thinking of you this mother's day. I will consider myself blessed if I can make my way through the journey of motherhood, and life, as gracefully as you have!

Grandma~ you have devoted your life to serving your family, with five children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren! You have definitely stored up lots of treasures in heaven. If I have half the drive and discipline you did in raising your kids, helping run the farm, cooking/baking to feed a small army, and even finding time to iron underwear, I will be very satisfied with my abilities as a mother! I can't wait for my little guy to get to know his great-grandma.

Happy Mother's Day; I love you both!!
