Extreme Makeover: Boehme Edition

Here's a random set of photos from the last couple months...and I think the title is appropriate since we improved on the car, we improved on the house (inside and out)...and the last photo looks like we all got makeovers! Enjoy...

Before, circa 2007

After, May 2009 - thanks to Oregon Paint Pros!

Before - not such a child-friendly vehicle - 1999 Toyota Solara

After - got a newer, nicer kid-friendly chassis and MADE money on the deal! 2000 Ford Explorer - Woohoo!

No "before" here - just Mindy's awesome work beautifully displayed in the family room...the big picture is 2' x 3'!

Sorry this one is so grainy...I don't have a digital image - but don't we all look HOT? :) Missing the girls dearly!
That's it for the Boehme makeovers...for now...tune in after June 6th to see what we've been up to this month!

Bilingual Baby

Because Brett has two beautiful Brazilian big sisters (how's that for alliteration?!), we've always thought it would be great for him to be exposed to their primary language, Portuguese. Thankfully, our digital cable service offers a cool "bilingual baby" program that often shows in Portuguese, so Brett's been learning simple words and phrases since he was around 6 months old.
However, Brett's first understanding of a Portuguese word did not come from his videos, but rather from all the time he spent goofing around with his big sisters while they were visiting over Christmas. Millenne and Jaciane were always teasing him about his stinky peidar (toots), and his big chubby bunda (bottom) and buxo (tummy). So which word do you think Brett caught onto first?...

We tried and tried for over a week to get a good video of this, but Brett has developed an obsession with the camera so he's never really "himself" anymore once we pull it out. When the camera is off, Brett will toddle around patting his buxo and laughing, over and over and over. It's such a crackup!
