Harvest Time

On Sunday we took our little farmer on an excursion to Baggenstos Farms, just a mile from our house. Brett got to enjoy a hay ride, picking a pumpkin, and chasing after (okay, "chasing" is a bit of an exaggeration) chickens, roosters and goats! Here are some of our favorite snapshots from the trip.

Milestones!

Yipes, I've been slacking lately...and at such a crucial time! Here are just a few of Brett's big milestones during the month of September:

GROWING! After Brett's 9-month check-up today, we've learned that he is in the 76th, 77th, and 96th percentiles for weight, height, and head size, respectively. Yeah, he's got a lot of brains. He is 22 lbs, 2.5 oz, 2 feet 5 inches high, and his big ol' head is 18.75 inches around. What a beefcake!

CRAWLING! He motors all over the place nowadays. Here is a progression of photos (sorry, the video was too big):

A TOOTH! Praise the Lord, it finally came through:

(yep, that's a pea in there too)

STANDING! He can pull himself up from a sitting position, and as of today, he can even do it from lying facedown. What a beefcake! Sorry, no photos of this yet...I'm still kinda paranoid and have to be hovering around him in case he decides to tip over.

PLAYING! Brett has learned a new appreciation for water - in the form of a water fight after dinner. He just LOVES being splashed in the face, go figure. It's rather therapeutic for mommy too, if he's given her a particularly difficult day. Heeheee :) This is the greatest video. Brace yourself:

Just a teeny post about the upcoming election

Okay, so it's forty days away and I have managed up to this point to keep politics off our blog...but I couldn't resist posting this appropriate verse I read in my devotion earlier this week. You can decide for yourself which candidate it seems to describe. I took it as a pretty clear word from the Lord.

Prov. 24:21-22

My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change: For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

All I hope and pray for is that my brothers and sisters in Christ will deeply consider the issues at hand when we all go to the polls this year...let's not be swept off our feet with dazzling speeches or ramblings on and on about "change," but rather look at the values, beliefs, experience, and voting record of each man and woman on the ballot. Think. Pray. Then VOTE.

May God continue to shed His grace on America!

99 Days to go!

No, we're not starting a Christmas countdown quite yet... It's exactly ninety-nine days until our goddaughter, Jaciane, comes to visit!! Yeeeaaaah! She got her visa last month, and we just purchased her plane tickets this week. So Brett's big sister will arrive on December 21st, just in time for Christmas, Brett's first Birthday, and New Year's! And, since she has lots of time off from school, she'll be able to stay all the way to Valentine's Day! We are SO excited and can't wait to have Jaciane here.

Now it's time to start praying for Millenne (Jaci's big sis) to get some time off work so she can come see her little Bro too!

Love our girls...
